ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) has the following characteristics:
- It restricts unwanted data from entering into a computer or network by scanning it.
- It works independently of any networking device and can be used with any type of network connection.
- It must be enabled on a computer directly connected to the Internet.
- It can run on both the Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional computer.
- It should not be configured on virtual private networks (VPNs).
- It should not be enabled on computers that are not directly connected to the Internet.
