Following are the attributes of the <jsp:useBean> standard action:

  • The id attribute: It is case sensitive and is used to identify the JavaBean. The id of the <jsp:useBean> is a mandatory attribute.
  • The class attribute: It represents the fully qualified class name. It should be a concrete class and should have a public, no-argument constructor. The package and class name are case sensitive. If the beanName and the type are specified, the class name is not required.
  • The beanName attribute: It should follow the JavaBeans specifications. This attribute is optional and usually supplied at runtime.
  • The type attribute: It is optional and specifies the type of the object that can be of the same class, a super class, or an implementing interface. For a <jsp:useBean> standard action, either the type attribute or the class name must be specified.
  • The scope attribute: It specifies the scope within which the reference is available. It is an optional attribute and defaults to page.
