What are templates in an ASP.NET mobile application?

In an ASP.NET mobile application, templates are composed of markup language elements, such as HTML and WML tags, and Web server controls. They are used for enhancing the appearance of mobile controls of an ASP.NET Web application or for customizing these controls for specific types of mobile devices. They must be associated with specific device filters. Hence, device filters must be defined and applied to mobile controls prior to creating templates for controls. The application displays the contents of the template for a specific mobile control, whenever the device filter evaluates to true. The mobile control is said to contain a template set if the control has more than one template per device filter.
