What are public folder trees?
Rating:
Exchange Server 2003 allows an administrator to create two types of public folder trees: the Default public folder tree and the General Purpose public folder tree. The Default public folder tree is created automatically when Exchange Server 2003 is installed on a server for the first time. It is displayed in Exchange System Manager as Public Folders, whereas in Outlook as All Public Folders. General Purpose public folder trees are the trees that an administrator can create in Exchange System Manager. Since General Purpose public folder trees do not support MAPI clients, they as well as the public folders created within them are not visible to Outlook users. Such trees are accessible only by the NNTP and HTTP clients.
