What are public folder roles?

Roles are groupings of permissions that can be assigned to a user on a public folder. An administrator can assign eight predefined public folder roles to users. These roles are described as follows:
| Owner | A user with this role can create, read, modify, or delete all items, create subfolders, and change the permission levels for the users on a public folder. |
| Author | A user with this role can create items, read all items and files, and modify or delete his items and files. |
| Editor | A user with this role can create, read, modify, or delete all items and files. |
| Publishing Editor | A user with this role can create, read, modify, or delete all items and files, and create subfolders. |
| Publishing Author | A user with this role can create and read all items and files, create subfolders, and modify or delete his items and files. |
| Contributor | A user with this role can create items and files. (The contents of the folder do not appear to the user having this role). |
| Reviewer | A user with this role can read items and files. |
| None | A user with this role cannot open a public folder, or perform any operation on the folder. |
| Custom | A user with this role can perform the activities defined by the folder owner. |
