What are non-Plug and Play devices?

Rating:

The devices that do not contain Plug and Play functionality are called non-Plug and Play devices. When a non-Plug and Play device is installed on a computer, the drivers for that device are not installed automatically. Instead, a user has to run the Add Hardware Wizard and manually install the device driver. The level of Plug and Play support for any device depends on both the device and its drivers. If the device supports Plug and Play and the driver does not, then the device functions as if it is a non-Plug and Play device and this incompatibility makes the device nonfunctional.
