What are HTTP status codes?

The first line of HTTP response is called the status line that includes a status code. Each status code has a textual message that gives a success or failure message related to the loading of a Web page. The status codes have the ability to tell whether the Web page has successfully loaded or resulted in an error. The status codes can be of the following types:

  • Informational
  • Success
  • Redirection
  • Client error
  • Server error
