There are three network location types in Windows Vista as follows:

• Public: This location identifies that the computer is connected to a network that has a direct connection to the Internet, such as public network in airport, coffee shop, library, etc.
• Private: This location identifies that the computer is connected to trusted computers in home network or office network.
• Domain This location specifies that the computer is a part of domain network that contains Active Directory domain controller.
