What are device fonts?
Rating:
Device fonts are special fonts that can be used in Flash for both static and dynamic text. These fonts are not embedded in a Flash file. Instead, Flash Player uses fonts that most closely resemble the device fonts available on the end user's computer. As the player uses fonts available on the local computer, the fonts look different as expected, and there is no guarantee how the final text will be displayed. There are three device fonts in Flash: _sans (similar to Helvetica and Arial), _serif (similar to Times Roman), and _typewriter (similar to Courier). Since the device fonts are not embedded, the size of the Flash file is smaller than when using embedded fonts.
