Time is the occurrence of an incident. Knowing how to tell the time is very helpful. You can know when you have to get up, eat your food, go to school, etc.
A clock is used to see the time at any instance. Do you know how to tell the time by seeing the clock?
The clock is divided into 12 equal parts as shown below:

In some clocks, each division is marked with numbers from 1 to 12 in the sequence as shown below:

A clock has two hands, one small and one big. The smaller hand, also called hour hand tells the hour of a day. The bigger hand tells the minute and is called the minute hand. Both the hands move around the clock. Let us learn how to tell the time by seeing the clock.
In the clock shown above, the hour hand is pointing towards 3 and the minute hand is pointing towards 12. Thus, it shows that it is 3 o’clock (o’clock is the short form of the clock).
When it is 12 o’clock during the day, it is called noon or midday.
When it is 12 o’clock at night, it is called midnight.
Each day is made up of 4 time periods. The correct order of the time periods is as follows:
1. Morning
2. Afternoon
3. Evening
4. Night
Some of the important timings are as follows:
1. The time to have lunch is noon.
2. The time to sleep is 8 o’clock at night.
A day is made up of hours. There are 24 hours in a day.
A week is made up of days. There are 7 days in a week. These are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
A month is made up of weeks.
A year is made up of months. There are 12 months in a year. These are as
January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December.
A calendar is used to see the date.

Christmas is celebrated on 25th of December.
Independence Day is celebrated on 4th of July.
