How to use a table variable?

Rating:

A table variable is used to store temporary data. Suppose a user has to store the employee data, which contains the following columns:

  • empname
  • empage
  • empaddress
  • empsalary
  • empphone
  • empemail
  • empdeptid
He can use the following SQL script to accomplish the task:

CREATE PROCEDURE prctable

DECLARE @Employee TABLE
empname VARCHAR(30)
empage INT
empaddress VARCHAR(50)
empsalary DECIMAL(1,2)
empphone VARCHAR(20)
empemail VARCHAR(30)
empdeptid INT

When the stored procedure is executed by using the UTE prctable, a temporary table will be created.
