How to replace the contents of a Smart Object?

Take the following steps to replace the contents of a Smart Object without losing the modifications made to the Smart Object:
- Select the Smart Object from the Layers palette.

- Choose Layer > Smart Objects > Replace Contents.

- In the Place dialog box, choose the location of the file, select the file name and then click the Place button.

- This will replace the contents of the Smart Object with the selected file.
