The Web Site Administration Tool is used to view and manage the Web site configuration through a Web interface. The following are the steps to use the Web Site Administration Tool to manage Web configuration settings that are not inherited:

  1. Open the already created Web site named WebSite1. Select Website>ASP.NET Configuration menu, as shown below:



  2. The ASP.Net Web Application Administration dialog box appears. The tool specifies a tabbed interface in which related configuration settings are grouped within each tab. Each tab manages and modifies the Web site configuration settings. An illustrative image is shown below:



  3. Click the Security tab in the dialog box. The Security tab is used to manage access rules to secure specific resources within the Web site. It also helps in managing user accounts and roles. An illustrative image is shown below:



  4. Click the Application tab in the dialog box. The Application tab is used to manage a variety of settings related to the Web site. They are: Application Settings, SMTP Settings, Debugging and Tracing , and Application Status. An illustrative image is shown below:



  5. Click the Provider tab in the dialog box. The Provider tab is used to test or assign providers for membership and role management for a specific Web site. An illustrative image is shown below:
