Take the following steps to install Oracle10g software:
- The Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) is used to install and configure the Oracle 10g software. Mount the CD in the server's CD-ROM. The Welcome window will be displayed as follows:

Click the Next tab to proceed. - The Specify Inventory Directory and Credentials window is used to specify the name of the operating system group of which a user doing the install is a member..

Enter the full path of the inventory directory and the operating system group name. Click the Next tab to continue the installation. - On the Specify File Location window, specify the location of the source CD and the destination location of the Oracle 10g software. Also, specify a nickname (alias) for the file.
Click the Next tab to proceed the installation. - The Select Install Type window prompts to select the type of installation for the software.
The Enterprise Edition option is the most preferred one. Click the Next tab to continue the installation. - Now, the OUI enters into the second round of installation checks. The Product Specific Prerequisite Checks window confirms that the server's operating system version and configuration are appropriate for the type of chosen installation.
If all the verification checks complete successfully, click the Next tab to navigate to the Select Database Configuration window. - The Select Database Configuration window is used to create a database following the installation process.
Click the Do Not Create A Starter Database option, if the starter database is not needed. Click the Next tab to continue the installation. - Now, the Summary window is displayed.
This window summarizes all the options that you selected and all the components that will be installed. If any modifications in the previous selections are needed then click the Back tab and change the previous selections. If no modifications are desired then click the Next tab to start copying the Oracle binaries from the CD to the directory specified (). - Keep an eye on the progress bar, to track the copy progress.

- When the copy portion of the installation is complete, the OUI begins linking the binaries to create the executable files needed to make the Oracle 10g software run on the server.
- When the linking process is over, the installation is done.
Click the Exit tab and then the OK button on the pop-up window to exit the OUI. An entire software installation is finally done.
