Take the following steps to create a backup device:

  1. Run SQL Server Management Studio from Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > SQL Server Management Studio.

  2. Right-click the Server Objects folder and go to New > Backup Device.

  3. In the Backup Device window, mention the device name and the destination file name. Click the OK button.

  4. Expand the Server Objects folder and the Backup Devices folder to see the backup device.
