Take the following steps to configure visual effects on a computer running Windows XP:
- Run Control Panel from Start menu > Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel window, select Performance and Maintenance. (If Control Panel is configured to show the Category view)
- In the Performance and Maintenance window, select System.
- In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced button.
- On the Advanced tab page of the System Properties dialog box, click the Settings button in the Performance section.
- On the Visual Effects tab page of the Performance Options dialog box, select the appropriate radio button to apply a setting on the computer, and click the OK button.
