How to add Windows Deployment Service role to a Windows Server 2008 domain controller?

Take the following steps to add Windows Deployment Service role to a Windows Server 2008 domain controller:

  1. Run the Server Manager through Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager.

  2. In Server Manager, click the Roles option in the left pane.

  3. In the left pane, click the Add Roles option. This will run the Add Roles Wizard.

  4. On the Before You Begin page, click the Next button.

  5. On the Select Server Roles page, select the Windows Deployment Services check box. Click the Next button.

  6. On the Overview of Windows Deployment Services page, click the Next button.

  7. On the Select Role Services page, click the Next button.

  8. On the Confirm Installation Selections page, click the Install button.

  9. The Installation Progress page will show the progress of the installation.

  10. On the Installation Results page, click the Close button.
