Take the following steps to add a forward lookup zone on a Windows Server 2008 DNS server:
- Run DNS Manager through Start > Administrative Tools > DNS.
- In DNS Manager, right-click the Forward Lookup Zones option, and click the New Zone option. This will open the New Zone Wizard.
- On the Welcome screen of the New Zone Wizard, click the Next button.
- On the Zone Type page, select the type of zone. Click the Next button.
- On the Active Directory Zone Replication Scope page, select the required option. Click the Next button.
- On the Zone Name page, provide the zone name. Click the Next button.
- On the Dynamic Update page, select the required option. Click the Next button.
- On the last page of the wizard, click the Finish button.
