How to add a forward lookup zone on a Windows Server 2008 DNS server?

Take the following steps to add a forward lookup zone on a Windows Server 2008 DNS server:

  1. Run DNS Manager through Start > Administrative Tools > DNS.

  2. In DNS Manager, right-click the Forward Lookup Zones option, and click the New Zone option. This will open the New Zone Wizard.

  3. On the Welcome screen of the New Zone Wizard, click the Next button.

  4. On the Zone Type page, select the type of zone. Click the Next button.

  5. On the Active Directory Zone Replication Scope page, select the required option. Click the Next button.

  6. On the Zone Name page, provide the zone name. Click the Next button.

  7. On the Dynamic Update page, select the required option. Click the Next button.

  8. On the last page of the wizard, click the Finish button.
