How to add a counter to the Performance tool in Windows XP?

Take the following steps to add a counter to the Performance tool:

  1. Run Control Panel from the Start menu > Control Panel.




  2. In the Control Panel window, select Performance and Maintenance. (If Control Panel is configured to show the Category view)




  3. In the Performance and Maintenance window, select Administrative Tools.




  4. In the Administrative Tools window, select Performance.




  5. In the Performance window, right-click the graph and select Add Counters.




  6. In the Add Counters dialog box, select the computer to be monitored, the appropriate performance object, and a counter from the list. After performing these actions, click the Add button and then click the Close button.




  7. Close the Performance window.
