What are alpha channels?

An alpha channel is a special type of channel that is used to store selections. It enables you to retrieve a saved selection and use it again. You can also copy the selection to another image while the original image is open. The selection can also be edited when the channel in which it is saved is selected in the Channels palette, just as if you were in Quick Mask mode.

What is the Convert Anchor Point tool?

The Convert Anchor Point tool is used to convert a smooth anchor point into a corner point and a corner anchor point into a smooth point. Click on the smooth anchor point to convert it to a corner point. Dragging a corner anchor point converts it to a smooth point.

When to rasterize vector data?

The painting tools or filters are not available for those layers that contain vector data (type layers, shape layers, and vector masks) and generated date (fill layers). For using the commands and tools on these layers, a user has to rasterize the layers. Rasterizing turns these layers into pixel images. Once a layer is rasterized, the user cannot edit its contents as a vector object, nor can he change it back to a vector object.

What is the Patch tool?

The Patch tool is used to repair a selected area of an image with pixels from another area of the image or a pattern. It matches the texture, lighting, transparency, and shading details of the sampled pixels to the source pixels. The Patch tool can also be used to clone a selected area of an image.

What is metadata?

Metadata is a set of information about a file. The information may include format, author name, resolution, color space, copyright, and keywords applied to the file. The metadata can be used to make efficient workflow and organize files.

What is the Vertical scale?

Vertical scale adjusts the height of selected letters. The default appearance of font’s height is always 100%, and the Character palette enables you to adjust it from 0% to 1000%. You can adjust the vertical scale by entering a new value for Vertical scale in the Character palette.

What is the use of the File Info dialog box?

The File Info dialog box displays all sorts of useful information about the image files such as camera data, other file properties, an edit history, copyright and authorship information, and custom metadata panels. It allows a user to add metadata directly from it. When a user selects more than one file, the dialog box shows where different values exist for a text field by remarking “Multiple Values”. Any information changed or added to a field is applied to all selected files.

What is the Metadata panel of Adobe Bridge?

The Metadata panel of Adobe Bridge displays information about an image currently selected in the Preview pane of Adobe Bridge. It contains information about file size, date of creation, image height and width, resolution, color mode, camera data, and other information.
