Following is the syntax for creating a password file:

FILE='FileName' PASSWORD=Password ENTRIES=integer

where,

  • FileName specifies the name of the password file. FileName should be specified with the full path.

  • Password specifies the password for the SYS user account. If the password is changed after connecting to the database, it is updated in the password file and the data dictionary.

  • integer specifies the maximum number of administrative users who can be added to the password file.


  • Note: Spaces are not allowed around the equal to (=) operator.
