The getResourceAsStream() method is a method of the Class class. It is used to read a resource with a specified name from the JAR file. It returns null if the JAR file contains no such resource. The resource name can be given in two forms:

  • Absolute: In absolute form a programmer provides a full qualified name, which includes full path, and the resource name such as packagename/resourcename.
  • Relative: In relative form a programmer provides the name of the resource to be read.

The general syntax of this method is as follows:

public InputStream getResourceAsStream(String name)

Here, the name parameter is the name of the resource.
