What is the Resumable Space Allocation feature?
Rating:
The Resumable Space Allocation feature, first introduced in Oracle 9i and also available in Oracle 10g, suspends and later resumes the execution of large database operations in the event of space allocation failures. This enables a DBA to take corrective measures either by adjusting quotas or by adding disk space to a tablespace. The Oracle database server does not return any error to the user. After the error condition is corrected, the suspended operation automatically resumes where it left off.
