What is startup phase in Windows XP?

Rating:

The Microsoft Windows XP startup phase involves the following steps:

  • Power-on self test (POST) phase
  • Initial startup phase
  • Boot loader phase
  • Detect and configure hardware phase
  • Kernel loading phase
  • Logon phase

The above startup phases are different steps applied to the computer every time it is started or restarted after a normal shutdown. However, it does not apply when a computer resumes from hibernation or standby mode.
