What is archiver (ARCn)?
Rating:
Archiver (ARCn) is an Oracle background process that copies the completely filled online redo log files to the archive log. After the online redo log files are copied to the archive log, they can be overwritten. In ARCn, n indicates the sequence number of the archiver process. An Oracle instance can have ten archiver processes (ARC0 to ARC9) associated with it.
An archiver (ARCn) process is enabled only if the database is running in ARCHIVELOG mode, and the LOG_ARCHIVE_START initialization parameter is set to TRUE.
