What is a tree?
Rating:
For every object in Active Directory, information is stored in the directory database that references the parent object; each object has exactly one parent. By virtue of these parent references, the hierarchy of objects managed by Active Directory forms a tree structure. Multiple domains are organized into a hierarchical structure called a tree. All domains in a tree share a common schema and a contiguous namespace. The first domain created in an Active Directory structure is called a root domain. The next domain added to the structure becomes the child domain of the root. More domains can be added to this structure that makes this hierarchical domain structure a tree.
