What is a granule?
Rating:
Granule is a unit of size for SGA components with the exception of Log Buffer. The size of a granule is not fixed. Instead, it is platform dependent and varies with the total size of the SGA. Typically, granules are of 4MB.
- The V view is used to know the size of a granule used by an instance.
- The size of granules should always be a multiple of the size of a typical granule, i.e., a multiple of four such as four, eight, twelve, sixteen, etc. The numerical value is always rounded up to the next whole granule size.
