What is a function call?

Rating:

A function is a set of actions defined by a user that affects one or more objects as per the definition. A function once created can be used anywhere in the document. The process of calling a function from another function or the invoking of a function through an event handler is called a function call.

For example, if a programmer creates a function named add, he can call it from other functions such as addmore (used in the example), or he can call it from event handlers of different objects. For example:

function add()
{
    var a=prompt("Enter first number")
    var b=prompt("Enter second number")
    var c=a+b
    document.write(c)
}
function addmore()
{
       add() //addmore is a calling function and add is a called function
}

<form>
<input type="button" value="Call Me" onclick="add()">
</form>
