What is a Web server?
Rating:
A Web server is a computer where the Web pages of a Web site are stored. Every computer has an IP address and a domain name. When a user requests for a Web page, the URL of the Web page directs the Web browser to the Web server that contains the requested page, and the Web server sends the requested page to the Web browser. The URL of the page can be either in the form of a domain name or an IP address. For example, if a user types www.yahoo.com, the request is sent to the Web server whose domain name is yahoo.com.
