What is a General Purpose public folder tree?

Rating:

A General Purpose public folder tree is similar to a default public folder tree. It is replicated to each server running Exchange 2000 Server or later version that contains a public folder store associated with that tree. Since it does not support MAPI clients, Outlook users cannot view or access it. Only HTTP or NNTP clients can access it. If administrators want to allow users to view or access it, they will have to configure an HTTP virtual server in the Exchange Server 2003 organization. They can create as many General Purpose public folder trees as required. However, they must associate each tree with a public folder store in order to use it. A General Purpose public folder tree can be created by using Exchange System Manager.
