What is a Distributor?
Rating:
Distributor is a database server that receives published data from a Publisher and stores and forwards this data to Subscribers. It reduces the workload of the Publisher. It is an intermediate server between the Publisher and Subscribers. There are two types of Distributors: local Distributor and remote Distributor.
- Local Distributor: When a single database server acts as both the Publisher and the Distributor, it is known as a local Distributor.
- Remote Distributor: When the Publisher and the Distributor are configured on separate servers, the Distributor is known as a remote Distributor.
