Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop features were primarily introduced in Windows XP operating system. The enhanced features in Windows Vista are as follows:

  • Low bandwidth requirement: Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop provides same usability as their predecessors but with low bandwidth requirements.

  • NAT support: In Windows Vista, Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop can work through NAT firewall.

  • Automatic session re-establishment: In case a host computer is rebooted as a part of the troubleshooting process, the Remote Assistance session is automatically re-established in the Vista version of Remote Assistance.
Note: Windows Vista version of Remote Assistance does not support voice sessions.
