What are the guidelines for naming a column?

Following are the guidelines for naming a column:

  • A column name must begin with a letter.

  • A column name must be one to thirty characters long.

  • A column name must not be an Oracle Server reserved word.

  • A column name must not duplicate the name of another column in the same table.

  • A column name must contain only A-Z, a-z, 0-9, _, $, and #.


  • Note: Column names are case insensitive.
