What are redo log files?
Rating:
Redo log files are operating system files that contain the records of all the changes made to a database. Every Oracle database must contain at least two redo log files because Oracle writes changes to redo log files in a circular manner. If a failure prevents a database change from being written to a data file, the change can be obtained from the redo log files. In this way, redo log files ensure that changes made to a database are never lost. Redo log files are also called online redo log files, as they are always open and accessed during database operations.
