What are different software restriction policy rules?

Rating:

There are four different software restriction policy rules to identify a software. These are as follows:

  • Hash: It is a series of bytes with fixed length that uniquely identifies a software or file. A hash is obtained by applying a one-way mathematical function (a hash algorithm) to an arbitrary amount of data.
  • Certificate: It identifies a software based on signed certificate.
  • Path: It identifies a program or file with its fully qualified path. It supports both URL and UNC paths.
  • Network zone: It identifies a software from a zone that is specified through Internet Explorer. The zones are Internet, Intranet, Restricted sites, and Trusted sites.
