Ribbon is a GUI pane, which provides a collection of tabs. Each tab comprises its own significance and relevant set of commands. Ribbon replaces menus, toolbars and task panes.
Ribbon comprises some contextual tabs, which are activated only when an object is selected.

Ribbon provides the commands that a user need to accomplish a task quickly and effectively. A user needs not to traverse various menus and toolbars before using the appropriate tool/command.

Limitations of Ribbon


  1. A user cannot add commands to the Ribbon.


  2. A user cannot rearrange groups or commands.


  3. A user cannot change the view of tabs.




  4. Access keys are used to provide quick access to commands/tools by using few keystrokes.
