Rating:

Microsoft suggests the following steps for troubleshooting the situation in which an alert does not fire:

  • Ensure that the SQLServerAgent and EventLog services are running.

  • Ensure that the event appears in the Microsoft Windows NT Application log. Clear the Application log if required. Also, check the SQL Server error log. Events written to the Windows 2000 or Windows NT Application log are also written to the SQL Server error log.
  • Ensure that the alert is enabled.
