How to create a stand-alone Dfs root?

Take the following steps to create a stand-alone Distributed File System (Dfs) root:

  1. Run Dfs from Start Menu > Programs > Administrative Tools > Distributed File System.



  2. In the Distributed File System console, click Action > New Dfs Root menu.



  3. In the welcome screen of the New Dfs Root Wizard, click the Next button.



  4. On the Select the Dfs Root Type page, specify the type of Dfs root you want to create, and click the Next button.



  5. On the Specify the Host Server for the Dfs Root page, specify the server name , and click the Next button.



  6. On the Specify the Dfs Root Share page, specify or create a shared folder, and click the Next button.



  7. On the Name the Dfs Root page, specify the name and description for the Dfs root, and click the Next button.



  8. Click the Finish button.
