Take the following steps to create a new login:

  1. Run SQL Server Management Studio from Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.



  2. In the Connect to Server dialog box, select the Server type as Database Engine, specify the Server name and Authentication. Now, click the Connect button.



  3. In the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio window, click the Security folder.



  4. Right-click the Logins folder and click the New Login option.



  5. In the Login - New window, mention the Login name, Authentication type, Default database and Default language. Click the OK button.

    Note: If you click the SQL Server Authentication mode, unclick the Enforce password policy checkbox.



  6. In the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio window, double-click the Logins folder.



  7. All the logins including the new logins will be displayed.
