The following are the steps to create a Windows-based Visual Basic application project:

  1. Open the Microsoft Visual Studio. Select File > New > Project drop-down menu option. An illustrative image is shown below:



  2. The New Project dialog box opens. Select Visual Basic language from the Project types left pane. Select the Windows Application template from the Visual Studio installed Templates option of the Templates pane. Type a valid name of the project in the Name text box option. Click the OK button, as shown below:



  3. The Form1.vb file is automatically created as a default Windows form in the design view, as shown below:
