- Open the File Browser. To open it, choose the File > Browser command.

Or alternatively, click the Toggle File Browser button on the Options bar.

- In the Folders palette of File Browser, select the folder that contains the files you want to rename.
- Choose Automate > Batch Rename from the menu bar at the top of the File Browser window.
- Select the Rename in same folder radio button in the Batch Rename dialog box to retain the files in the same folder after changing their names. - In the File Naming area, choose options from the pop-up menus or enter text in the fields. The final filename is created after combining the specified elements and text from each field.
- You can change the starting serial number and select the Compatibility option with which you want the renamed files to be compatible.
- Click the OK button.

- All files that you want to rename must be closed, otherwise the File Browser will not rename them.
- All the files that you want to rename must be in the same folder.
- If you want that the files are numbered in a specific sequence, arrange them in that order.
- To rename only some of the files in the folder, select those files.
