Take the following steps to rename all the files in a folder:

1. Open Bridge. To open it, choose File > Browse.
   
   
   
   Or alternatively, click the Toggle File Browser button on the Options bar.
   
   
   
   Or alternatively, choose Adobe Bridge from the Start menu to open Bridge directly (Windows).



2. In the Folders panel of Bridge, select the folder that contains the files that are to be renamed. Individual files can also be selected.
   
   



3. Choose Tools > Batch Rename from the menu bar at the top of the Bridge window.





4. Take one of the following steps in the Batch Rename dialog box:
   
   • Select the Rename in same folder radio button to retain the files in the same folder after changing the names of these files.
   
   
   • Select the Move to other folder radio button and click the Browse (Windows) or Choose (Mac OS) button to select a different folder to move the files to that folder after changing the names of these files.
   
   
   • Select the Copy to other folder radio button and click the Browse (Windows) or Choose (Mac OS) button to select a different folder to copy the files to that folder after changing the names of these files.
   
   



5. In the File Naming area, choose options from the pop-up menus or enter text in the fields. The final filename is created after combining the specified elements and text from each field.


6. Change the starting serial number and select the Compatibility option which the renamed files are to be made compatible with.


7. Click the Rename button.

Note: The following points should be remembered while changing the names of files:

• All files that are to be renamed must be closed, otherwise the File Browser will not allow to rename them.


• All the files that are to be renamed must be in the same folder.


• If the files are to be numbered in a specific sequence, arrange them in that order.


• To rename some of the files in a folder, select only those files.
