How does Instance Manager kill a session causing lock contention?

The Instance Manager tool of the Oracle Enterprise Manager can be used for killing a user session that is causing lock contention. The user session can be killed in the following manner:

  1. By expanding the session branch on the left hand side of the Instance Management window.
  2. By clicking the username whose session needs to be killed.
  3. By selecting the following from the menu bar: Sessions > Disconnect > Immediate
