What are audit policies?
Rating:
Windows XP Professional on NTFS-formatted volumes allows administrators to monitor the activities of users and operating systems in a network by configuring audit policies. Audit policies are configured by the system administrators and are used to define the types of events that need to be monitored regularly. These events are added to the security log and can be viewed using the Event Viewer administrative tool. Administrators can audit many types of events based on security concerns. Since too much auditing consumes a substantial amount of the computer's resources, administrators must audit only those events that are necessary to meet the security needs.
